Day 1: Arrival in Saigon – Explore the City
Today, you will be arriving in Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, a vibrant destination in Vietnam. Upon your arrival at the airport, we will escort you to the city center and assist you with the hotel check-in process.
In the evening, our guided city tour will commence at the Reunification Palace, a historical site where the Vietnam War concluded in 1975. This significant structure has been transformed into a museum. Adjacent to it is the Central Post Office, an exquisite heritage building that holds great importance in the city. A leisurely stroll along Nguyen Hue street will lead you to the Opera House and the Ho Chi Minh Committee. Following this, you will explore Ben Thanh Market, a renowned location in Saigon where you can observe local life and purchase handmade goods. Your overnight accommodation will be provided at the hotel in Saigon.
Day 2: Saigon – Mekong Delta – Saigon
Following a delightful breakfast, the day will commence with a trip to My Tho. Upon arrival, guests will embark on a boat journey along the majestic Mekong River, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the local riverbank communities. A visit to one of the four islands in the vicinity will provide an opportunity for sightseeing. Subsequently, guests will traverse narrow canals lined with water coconut trees in small boats rowed by locals. Stops at local factories producing honey tea and coconut candy milk will allow for a firsthand experience of these delectable treats. For those interested, a leisurely walk through a garden tended by locals caring for honeybees is also an option.
The day continues with a tranquil horse-cart ride along village roads, culminating in a light lunch at a nearby restaurant by the Mekong River, where Elephant Ear fish is a featured dish. As evening approaches, the return journey to Saigon will include a visit to Vinh Trang Pagoda, renowned for its blend of Chinese, Cambodian, and French architectural influences. Accommodation for the night will be provided at a hotel in Saigon.
Day 3: Saigon – Cu Chi Tunnels Tour – Phnom Penh
Following breakfast, you will visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, a significant historical site from the Vietnam War. These intricate tunnels, spanning 200 kilometers, were painstakingly dug by hand and utilized by Vietnamese guerrilla forces during the conflict. Prior to the Tet Offensive in 1968, nearly 10,000 soldiers resided in this underground network. Today, it serves as a poignant reminder of the war’s severity. Visitors have the opportunity to experience crawling through certain sections of the tunnels, providing a tangible glimpse into the past.
Later in the day, you will proceed to the airport for a flight to Phnom Penh. Upon your arrival in Phnom Penh, our representative will be present to greet you and transfer you to your accommodations. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to unwind and relax. Your overnight stay will be at the hotel in Phnom Penh.
Day 4: Phnom Penh City Tour
Following breakfast today, you will embark on a captivating tour of the city’s notable landmarks. Your first stop will be the royal palace complex, constructed in 1866 with striking Khmer-style architecture under the reign of King Norodom’s predecessors. Adjacent to this is the Silver Pagoda, also referred to as the Emerald Buddha temple, showcasing Buddha statues embellished with gold, diamonds, gemstones, and silver.
Next, you will visit the Independence Monument and delve into the National Museum, a stunning edifice characterized by Khmer architectural elements. Within its walls, you will encounter a vast collection of over 5000 art antiques crafted from various materials such as bronze, wood, gold, silver, copper, and sandstone. A leisurely stroll through the river-front park where four rivers converge, including the mystical Mekong, will lead you to the revered Phnom Daun Penh hill.
In the afternoon, your itinerary includes a visit to Tuol Sleng prison, now transformed into the Genocide Museum, a somber reminder of the Khmer Rouge regime’s atrocities. Concluding the day on a more cheerful note, you will have the opportunity to explore the bustling Russian market for shopping. Your overnight stay will be at a hotel in Phnom Penh.
