Tour Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Helsinki!
Upon arrival at Helsinki-Vantaa airport, collect your rental car and embark on a journey into Helsinki. Take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the city’s charm by visiting notable landmarks such as the Senate Square, Uspenskij Cathedral, Parliament House, Finlandia Hall, Sibelius Park & Monument, and the Temppeliaukio Church. Following a day of exploration, relax and unwind at your chosen hotel in Helsinki for the night.
Day 2: Helsinki to Porvoo
Commence your day with a delightful breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a morning of exploration in Helsinki. We recommend a visit to the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, a distinguished UNESCO World Heritage site constructed in 1748. Accessible by a quick 15-minute ferry ride from Helsinki’s Market Square, this historic fortress offers a captivating glimpse into the past.
Following your Helsinki adventure, set off for Porvoo, the second oldest town in Finland, via The King’s Road. This ancient route, tracing back to the 1300s, has welcomed royalty, messengers, clergy, artists, and more throughout its storied history. En route, make a stop at Haikko Manor, once the residence of renowned painter Albert Edelfelt, and the quaint 15th-century church of Sipoo.
Upon reaching Porvoo, meander through the enchanting Old Town, characterized by well-preserved wooden dwellings, a medieval church, and the charming Town Hall Square. Your evening accommodations await at a cozy boutique hotel nestled in the heart of Porvoo’s picturesque Old Town. Unwind and relish your overnight stay in this captivating setting.
Day 3: Porvoo to Turku
Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at your hotel before departing from Porvoo to Turku. Known as the oldest town in Finland and a former capital, Turku is situated along the Aura River in the southwest, where the country’s history originates, with the earliest evidence of human settlement in the region.
During your journey to Turku, you will travel along The King’s Road. Consider making a brief stop in Hanko to witness Finland’s southernmost point – the additional distance is well worth it! Upon arrival in Turku, prepare to immerse yourself in a city renowned for its vibrant cultural offerings and nautical ambiance.
Don’t miss the opportunity to visit Turku Castle, dating back to the 13th century, the outdoor and artisanal museum at Luostarinmäki, and the Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova Museum complex. Additionally, a trip to Ruissalo Island and the Botanical Gardens at the University of Turku can be a delightful experience. Your accommodation for the evening will be at a hotel in Turku.
Day 4: Turku – Naantali – Tuusula
Embark on your day by taking a brief drive to Naantali, known as Finland’s official summer holiday destination. This charming town is famous for the Kultaranta Estate, where the Finnish President resides during the summer months. Families and children alike enjoy the whimsical Moomin World theme park. Don’t miss a leisurely walk through the picturesque Old Town, a visit to the medieval church, and a wander through the stunning gardens featuring 3,500 roses at the Kultaranta Estate.
Later in the day, make your way to Tuusula, conveniently located near Helsinki-Vantaa airport for your departure the following day. Upon arrival, you will find yourself at the Krapi Estate in Tuusula, surrounded by a rich cultural atmosphere. This establishment offers a hotel, restaurants, a unique chimney-less sauna, and a spacious park with a variety of activities to enjoy. Krapi marks the start of the renowned Finnish Museum Road (Tuusula Rantatie), which showcases the homes of influential artists from the early 20th century who significantly contributed to shaping Finnish culture. Spend the night at the hotel in Tuusula for a restful stay.
Day 5: Depart Tuusula – Helsinki – Vantaa Airport
Experience the tranquil ambiance of Krapi before heading to Helsinki – Vantaa airport for your flight. If you have some spare time, take the opportunity to visit the cultural landmarks and museums along Tuusulan Rantatie. Upon arrival at the airport, return your rental car before boarding your flight.
